Some folk have expressed a reluctance to both claim and spend the N. I. Assembly’s £100 “Spend Local” money vouchers and are looking for a mechanism by which they could use it for charitable purposes.
There is such a scheme, organised by Grace Fellowship Church in Ballynahinch and ourselves, through the agencies of their Life Skills Centre and our CAP Debt Centre and Food Bank.
The scheme is run through Carlisle Fuels Ballynahinch, and they will accept vouchers in payment for small deliveries of oil to people who have been referred to them by Grace Fellowship or ourselves.
Christmas is just around the corner, and we are already starting to see the need with increased energy costs, the ending of both the government furlough system and the extra £20 a week Universal Credit. Anyone who would like to avail themselves of the scheme can go directly to Carlisle’s or they can direct their donation through the Parish.
